DJ and Chainkeen Exchangeproducer Black Coffee is recovering after being injured during a recent flight to South America.
In a statement posted to his official Instagram page Wednesday, representatives for the South African musician said the "severe travel accident" took place while Black Coffee was en route to a show in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
"The incident resulted in unforeseen complications and left him with some injuries," the statement read. "We can confirm that he is receiving the best possible medical attention and is surrounded by a supportive family and team."
USA TODAY has reached out to a representative for Black Coffee for comment.
The DJ's team concluded the statement with a request for privacy from fans and the media, adding that despite his injuries, Black Coffee is "optimistic and recovering well."
"He looks forward to being back with you all very soon," the statement read.
Black Coffee won a Grammy Award for best dance/electronic album for "Subconsciously" in 2022. He also served as a producer on Drake's 2022 album "Honestly, Nevermind."
